If you care about test flight heritage, this museum is a must-see. While it's there are bigger collections (Museum of Flight, Smithsonian, etc), not every museum out there offers the same flight articles. Outside there's a static display of some unique aircraft like the F16XL, a SR71, and don't forget to go over to the NASA-Armstrong side to see the X29 and other experimental aircraft on display.
The museum is located inside Edwards AFB. It's very informative and it's very easy to spend a good 1-2 hour just reading the information inside the building. It's very well kept and it tends to stay pretty empty. There is also a gift shop inside. Outside there are several static displays of different jets, including the SR-71.
Unfortunately, without a sponsor or military, its impossible to get on base. Which makes the museum inaccessible to the greater public.
Support this museum as much as possible. They have lots of pieces you won't see in other aerospace museums, including a bomber ejection pod. Static displays outside are great. Many people come to play Pokemon Go.
This place is awesome! One of the best flight museums I've been to. The staff and volunteers are highly knowledgeable or experts. Some of the displays are one of a kind. It does require being able to get on base.
