Had a ball with my nephew who is 5 but the place is a disaster.. glass and unsafe things for kids all over the ground

This is a great beach. Parking is the drawback. On weekends the lot fills early. The way the parking lot is set up , most people have to park toward the Lynn end of the beach. So that end gets crowded. It's a long walk to the other end. It's also expensive to park there. Get a season pass. Or if you're 62 or older you can get a senior pass that never expires.
