  This is a restored prairie managed by the Kane County Forest Preserve. Come and see what northern Illinois looked like before the prairie was plowed under to make way for industrial scale monocropping.
  
  Less than one percent of the original prairie still exists in Illinois.

  Loved how many bobolinks I saw while hiking through the prairie! I will definitely be back again to enjoy this prairie in all the seasons.

  As a "forest preserve" I guess I expected more forest. This place is, for all intents and purposes, a path around a field.
  
  Some areas are more grassy than others, but when I visited, the area was being plowed.
  
  On the plus side, the insanely flat, crushed limestone path made for a nice and easy jog around the preserve... so I'll be back.
