  Started taking my children there 5 years ago. Then started myself. The atmosphere is great, with everyone working together to help each other improve in thier skills. Great to see my oldest son transition into the adult program. The staff and students are like a second family.

  I wanted a program that would teach my boys real world self defense tactics, not another karate place around the corner that does the same thing as the next. This program is the best and exactly what I was looking for. My boys are growing stronger and more confident with each class. They LOVE this program and the amazing team.They incorporate discipline and team work and motivate them to do their best while teaching them how to defend themselves in the real world, today's world.   I have been training at Modern Warrior for a little over three years now. This self-defense school is completely unique, in that it focuses on training for realistic fighting scenarios rather than tournament-style fighting. There are no mirrors. You keep your shoes on. You don't call anyone "sensei".
  
  Instead, you learn effective techniques and strategies for dealing with an attacker on the street. They have lots of ways of making this as realistic as possible, because are you really likely to be attacked in a well-lit space with padded floors? We practice in tight enclosed spaces, in rooms with foam furniture, in the rain/snow/wind in the Environmental Simulator room, and much more. We also do a lot of work with blindfolds on, to rely less on our eyesight and more on how something *feels* in a fight.
  
  Modern Warrior also offers a number of one-time and short-term classes on specific topics like gun defense, instinct development, and women's self-defense. I came into the school myself on an 8-Week Female Self Defense class, and never left.
  
  Whether you have no previous martial arts experience (I didn't!) or have trained extensively in another art, you can learn a lot here.
