Great hike we always bring out of towners on. It’s a steady uphill but not exhausting to where visitors have a bad time. The lake is a nice payoff, especially when it’s frozen. Porter johns located at the trailheads parking areas. Pay to park $5 paper ticket system.
Gorgeous views, moderate difficulty due to a very rocky "trail". Wear good shoes and bring water! The lake has crisp, cool water surrounded by stunning peaks and beautiful flora.
It is a beautiful place to go hiking. The hike is short to St Mary's but you could extend you experience by exploring the area. The trail is all rocks and I used my phone to keep me on the path because there are multiple turn offs.
Did it! Don't wear flip flops OK? Very Rocky, possibly a 2500 foot doable hike with some steep sections but youths to seniors can be spotted foraging along the way if you're quiet. The lake and the glacier at the top are worth the effort. We will be back.
This was a great hike just 45 minutes from Denver. Beautiful little lake just below the glacier.
There is also a rocky spire that is an easy climb if you aren't too afraid of heights.
There seemed to be a lot of small trout in the lake for the anglers that knew to bring their gear.
Take you time and it's an easy hike with great views. $5 parking.
