  Please consider having your tv fixed before buying a new one - these guys do great work and provide a fantastic experience end to end. And if you do need to ditch the old model because its cost prohibitive to fix, they'll properly recycle it for you. Can't recommend them enough.

  After calling some other TV repair shops in the area, I called Solidstate. Tom was on a service call, but returned my voicemail within a couple hours. To say I was impressed by his knowledge and level of service would be an understatement. Not only did he give me a good estimate on the cost for the repair (a lot, unfortunately), but he also spent about 15 minutes with me explaining what most likely is going on and why. He even gave me tips and suggestions on how I could ask the TV manufacturer to potentially cover the cost because my problem was a common issue. In the end, he even gave me the frank (and honest) advice that if the manufacturer won't pay for the repairs... it might be a better financial move to simply buy a new TV rather than have him fix it. Talk about honesty!
  
  We need more companies and service people like this out there; ones that do what's best for the client, not just what is best for their profit margin.
  
  I will most certainly be using Solidstate for my repairs in the future. Even though my experience (thus far) has only been on the customer service side... the fact that he went out of his way to do the right thing with his time and honest advice goes a long way in my book.
