  Wendell Smith's...one of the last icons of West Nashville that's, thankfully, still around.
  I hope to God it never closes like H and H market did, and even the Sylvan Park grill did, and that Wendell Smith's never gets turned into a condo or any of the other stuff that's ruined West Nashville in the past few years.
  Not to mention Wendell's has the best fried chicken in the world!! Even people from other parts of Middle TN have said so when I've taken them to eat there.

  This place is kind of known as a Nashville meat-n-three legend, sort of like Arnold's or the now closed Mack's and Pie Wagon. Some local musicians use their outside sign for album artwork, such as Marty Stuart and Lee Ann Rimes. And considering I could walk there from work, it is surprising I have only been there maybe half a dozen times, I just usually brown bag my lunch. I did go there with a group of friends for lunch a couple of weeks ago and it was good. Pretty busy too. The inside doesn't look like it has been updated since they opened, and there is plenty of tar staining on the ceiling from the days when smoking was allowed inside. Their daily special the day I went was four meat choices and maybe 12-15 vegetables. They also have a regular menu you can order from, and I believe they serve breakfast all day. Pretty good stuff....

  Love their breakfast & lunch! The food is always fresh at breakfast & lunch. The staff is very nice & have been there for many years. We visit every time we are in town & I miss their food & the atmosphere dearly. They’ve done several updates in the last few years & have the restaurant looking fantastic!

  Wendell’s we love ya! A Sylvan Park treasure, it’s been around since the 1950’s off 53rd and Charlotte. More than just a meat and three; you can get breakfast ALL day!
  
  My sister and I have been devotees and recently took my husband. We all ordered breakfast around 11am on a Sat. He said it was the best breakfast he’s ever had! And the bacon!!!
  
  We like the booths, the servers are quick, there’s always fresh home grown vegetables near the register. The bill for the three of us with drinks was only about $30! Inexpensive and good. What’s not to love.

  I'm afraid of tourist discovering this place but everyone should experience Nashville from the 1970s. It's hands down the best meat n 3 in old Nashville and worth the wait. The only proper Banana Pudding as well. They are currently explanding so make sure you get in there before they remodel to get the original experience. A+++
