Modern Ninjutsu ....?
Modern Ninjutsu was founded by Will Maier. Will Maier has been active in the martial arts for over 35 years. He trained under 34th generation Grandmaster Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi, of Noda city, Japan, in Ninjutsu(Budo Taijutsu). Maier also has various degrees of black belt in Jujutsu, Tae Kwon Do, and Hapkido, and has studied several Chinese and Filipino martial arts. He is a certified Pilates instructor and holds a Master of Arts degree in teaching.
He ran a large and successful martial arts school for 27 years, with a peak enrollment of over 800 students, graduating 635 to various degrees of black belt. Will Maier has been involved with two of the most prestigious martial arts organizations in the world, U.S. Martial Arts Association and Martial Arts America. As a founding member of the Board of Directors of the U.S. Martial Arts Association(Educational Funding Company), his school had both the best student retention rate and highest monthly gross among the nearly 1000 schools within the organization for over five consecutive years. He was named “Man of the Year, 1991 along with much other recognition.
Maier has also served on the National Board of Advisors of Martial Arts America, and won numerous awards of excellence from that organization for over five consecutive years. His biography is in “Who’s Who” editions(World America, American Education and Finance Industry). Will Maier was inducted into the International Martial Arts hall of Fame as “Master Instructor of the Year, 2000.” He has appeared on the cover of and in a feature article in “Martial Arts Business Magazine”. He is also a graduate of the Howard County marylan Citizens Police Academy, and has received numerous awards from local and state government officials including the Howard County Maryland Council Proclamation, the Maryland State Senate Recognition Award and the Maryland Governor’s award. He has appeared on local, regional, and national segments of ABC, CBS, NBC (including the “Today Show”), and internationally on CNN.
In 1998 he was awarded 10th degree Black Belt in traditional Ninjutsu(Budo Taijutsu) under 34th generation Grandmaster Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi, of Noda city, Japan, and he was personally given the warrior name “Morning Dragon” by his mentor. He has since developed his own approach to the 900 year old lagacy, which he calls Modern Ninjutsu. Its emphasis is on practical self defense in the 21st century.
