  I had a session with Martha and at the time is was gently powerful and insightful. Martha had put a lot of thought and consideration into my session from the questions she asked me before the session. I was touched and appreciated her professionalism. But, more amazing was: as time went on I was able to reflect back and continue to get great insights into my question and myself that has profoundly affected my life in a subtle way- this allows me to continue to integrate and gain a deeper understanding of myself from that one session. I am excited and truly know that I can go even deeper in the following sessions if needed.

  As a fellow counselor, I appreciate Martha's compassionate presence and body-oriented approach. She integrates skills from her background as a therapist and life coach with mindfulness-based techniques that include hypnosis and Focusing. I find her to be warm and engaging and have enjoyed working with her.

  I am a full time caregiver for my husband who has dementia. I was having problems with "anticipatory grief" as I know dementia is terminal. I felt sad and tearful every day but tried to be positive and upbeat as I know that is best for him and certainly I have always felt better when I am happy and positive. But the tears were always right there, at the back of my eyes so to speak. I spoke with Martha Whitney and she suggested that hypnosis might be able to help with the grief and I was delighted to try it. Martha helped me with hypnosis and visualization two times and then guided me as I was able to do the hypnosis myself. After my session with Martha I had a strong feeling of peacefulness and calming. I am able to use this technique when I am sad and also when I awake in the night, fretful or unable to sleep. It helps me relax, regain my peacefulness, and go back to sleep. I am so grateful to Martha for teaching me such a valuable tool which I can use in my "journey" with my husband.

  I have had problems with insomnia for many years, mainly waking early and not being able to get back to sleep. Martha Whitney suggested hypnosis as a possible help - (I had had a positive experience with hypnosis for childbirth many years ago). After just one session, I have felt much more relaxed and amazingly have been sleeping better for about 3 months. With hypnosis, you feel very relaxed but always aware of your surroundings and in complete control.
  Martha Whitney makes you comfortable from your first meeting, and is easy to work with.
