Vancouver Community Midwives

My home birth experience was something I will always cherish, but the care I received during my pregnancy was also a very special experience. When I first inquired with VCM I was put as ease by how personal their responses were. I really got a sense that they truly care.

My first appointment was with Naomi, Serenity, and Mana. They were all so welcoming and made me feel that I would be safe in their care. It was a bonus that they are all so relatable, kind, and funny! I left feeling excited and empowered!

Throughout my time with Naomi and Serenity I noticed a theme of Consent in all aspects. I have never felt so safe and respected as a person, and truly guided by a care provider. They make sure to give all of the information for each stage of pregnancy, newborn care, and postpartum. The way they present information is “non threatening.” I never felt pressured to make any decisions. Any information that could have been presumed as scary would also be presented in such a way that if the chances of a scary outcome were 1/200, they were sure to remind me that also means 199/200 were completely fine. As someone with pretty strong anxiety I always appreciated that shift in mindset.

I truly could go on forever about how wonderful these midwives are!

Loved, LOVED my birth experience with these amazing women!! So different from my first birthing experience which made me feel like I was just being put through the motions without having ANY of it explained or even given a choice. During this pregnancy, Naomi and Serenity explained every single test and procedure and gave me options on EVERYTHING! Birthing at home was so much more comfortable than being at the hospital, and having these wonderful, competent women right next to me took all the fear out of the unusual experience (I had no clue about home births until a year ago). Could not be happier I chose them :)

The absolute best care I’ve ever received from any medical professionals. My first experience with a home birth and midwife and I can say it was nothing short of perfect. The afterbirth care was phenomenal, the home birthing experience was so much smoother than my previous birth at a hospital. These women truly make you feel apart of a great community and care for you. 10/10 recommend. Would not want to have anyone else care for me or my kiddos than Naomi, mana, and serenity.

My experience with Naomi, Serenity and Mana was nothing short of amazing! Throughout my pregnancy they were there to answer any questions and concerns I had. I always looked forward to all my appointments because they were so friendly, kind and caring. During labor they were amazing in making me feel calm and as relaxed as you can be while pushing a baby out! I always felt that I was in good hands when they were present. I will definitely be using their services again the next time around.

You simply cannot find a better care team in the area. Naomi, Serenity, and Betsy are THE DREAM TEAM. Not only do they come with an arsenal of experience, but they are the most kind, considerate, loving, passionate, and dedicated birthing team I have ever had the pleasure of calling my providers and friends. They made me feel at ease and at home during my prenatal visits, and completely safe and in incredibly capable hands during my home birth and postpartum period. Please don’t hesitate if you’re looking for a birth team, because you won’t find better than Vancouver Community Midwives!
