Hood Market

My experience w/ Hood Market was a blessing! We met the most genuine people; their hospitality and generosity inspired me to compose my first review!
Last week on a August evening, me and my amigos are driving to a dinner party and realized we forgot to bring the bottle of vino. It was too late to go back and hoped that we find a store. On the long stretch of windy one lane roads, we finally come to the crossroad where we find Hood Market. We parked on the dirt driveway behind the car of the owners who were loading up their car w/ pots which sparked up conversation about what was in those pots.
The owner's wife, Asha told us that she cooks everyday in the small kitchen in their market. I then asked her if they ran a restaurant or sold her food their, but she said no, that she just comes and cooks there and brings it home to their family and friends while manning the store with her husband Cheety... "Like Cheety Cheety Bang Bang!" he says. We converse about dishes she cooks and that she loves to cook veggies as her husband loves to cook and eat meat (like a true man). I tell her that I've never had authentic Indian food and that I would of course try anything at least once. From that response, she quickly went back into her car, pulled out her pots and proceeded to invite us into their market where she served us Curry Roaster (roaster home-raised by them) w/ homemade Roti (flat bread; like a tortilla or crepe). It was so tasty and delicious! Best of all, it was made with thoughts of love; that food not only was for her family, but for everyone. Asha said, "We just like to feed people". As we're sopping every drop curry w/ our Roti, they tell us stories about how they've only been their since March 2012, they want to open a deli, but the city says they have restrictions on the building sewage system and how they've been keeping busy with tourist visiting the local wineries and the natural preservation of animals along the river.
I felt so bad that we had to eat and leave, but left full of spirit and joy meeting this beautiful couple. If your ever in the area, stop by, grab a snack or just go introduce yourself. I guarantee they will leave a very seasoned taste with you as they have with me :)
