Custom Leisure Products

I don't have enough good things to sat about Custom Leisure products and the redwood soak/hot tub they designed, built, and installed for me.

This tub has been a dream of mine for a long time, and I had a lot of ideas for exactly what I wanted. Owner Jim Callaway, who has been making these tubs for decades, helped me avoid so many mistakes and also helped design something that is better than I could have hoped for. His partner Trever did the install and is a true professional -- superb communicator, deep technical knowledge, and obsessed with making things perfect.

If you've been looking for a tub like this, you might have run across Cedartubs.com and Snorkel -- or RH Tubs on the high end. Skip those and buy local. Custom Leisure's product is superior to RH Tubs, thousands of dollars less expensive, and without the lead time.

I also *highly* recommend having Customer Leisure install it: While i think anyone handy (maybe extra-super handy) could spend a long weekend getting it set up, you'll save yourself many headaches.

11/15/17. I have now been using the tub for little over a year so I thought I would followup and let you know it has performed wonderfully. Have had no problems with leaks or any of the equipment. I have learned that it heats up much more quickly than advertised and I don't even keep it at an elevated temperature all the time. The water can go from about 60 degrees to 100 in less than an hour. I have drained and cleaned it twice so far and that has kept it in excellent condition. As you can tell, I'm quite happy with the product. Have never had any reason to contact the company so have no comments about customer service other than the ones I posted last year.

Ordered a 5' cedar tub from the company in June 2016. Took about five weeks to get it delivered which was not a problem and really reflective of the fact they custom cut all the boards and assemble the unit as part of the manufacturing process. Before they disassemble it to send to you they mark all of the pieces for where they go and leave new screws in the predrilled boards. The total shipping weight was just under 1200 pounds, but the delivery company put it in my garage and I just took it out a little at a time. Assembly was actually easy. The instructions run 30 pages and were written by someone who speaks American english. Also got notes from the guy who assembled the product at the factory detailing the unique parts of my tub. The notes were very clear about how to do the custom parts of my tub. I did almost all the assemble by myself. Had help from a friend when the jets and other plumbing got done because that requires someone to work inside and outside the tub at the same time. Exchanged several e-mails and a couple of phone calls with Jim (support organization at the company) who was extremely helpful. He knows his stuff. Pricing was a little more that a prefab unit but less than a custom unit built on-site.

Have used the tub for a couple of weeks now and love it. Had almost no leakage from the start even though the company says it takes a couple of weeks to fully seal. The wood is still leaching tannins which the company says takes about ten weeks to fully stop. It doesn't affect the usage of the tub and other than keeping the waterline cleaned up doesn't cause any extra work.

I was a little worried about being able to pull this off. It seemed like a big project when I was researching it; however, it turned out to be a lot of fun and my friends marvel at how good it looks. Happy to hand out five stars.
