Bayernhof Museum

What an incredible 2.5 hours we spent touring this absolutely fantastic house/museum. The music "boxes"are what brought us here but the stories and house are what will bring us back. Our docent Jim was probably the best tour guide we've had anywhere in the world. I can not wait to return

The tour was fantastic and very informational. The whole museum is very eclectic. I had to take a point off because there was no mention ahead of time that the $10 per person is cash only.

Charles (Charlie) Brown, III heir to a ceramic fireplace log and gas light fortune built this 19,000 square foot eccentric mansion high above Pittsburgh. It is filled with the best kitschy 1970s faux German style, state of the then art appliances and some fantastic antique music related items. The large collection of rare music machines I enjoyed seeing! The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The 2 hour+ tour time flies by. Would highly recommend stopping.

My family toured the Bayernhof Museum and found it to be a remarkable and quite unexpected home...containing not just unique musical devices but some rather unusual and a bit quirky collectibles/decor and architectural elements. The view from the home was amazing. I only wish I could have been one of the guests who had the opportunity to attend one of the lavish dinners during it's hay-day. Our tour guide, Jim, was wonderful! He is very talented and gave an engaging retelling of the history of the home and its owner, as well as demonstrations of the musical instruments. Highly recommend to those looking for something different , unique and memorable.

The tour was an excellent value for 2 and a half hours worth of content. The house was a marvel and our tour guide did a great job immersing (and including) us in the daily life of the previous homeowner. There were plenty of opportunities to sit as well as observe the breathtaking views. The pace was not overly taxing on the feet or eyes and enabled you to amply observe the surroundings. The musical instruments were extremely interesting and lent to the whimsical atmosphere. By the time the journey through the house had ended, I marveled that 150 minutes had elapsed.
