Story was kind, patient, and skilled. I work in a hospital and wanted a different experience. She gave expert care, working with me and empowering me to trust my body and the process. To be honest, I barely noticed her working! I was able to focus on myself, my birth process, and reach out for help or encouragement when I needed it. She calmly managed a difficult placental removal without needing to transfer. She was available via text for weeks after helping me with feeding questions and making sure baby was doing well. I loved my experience and felt completely safe and taken care of by Story. It was amazing to wake up the morning after in my own bed, knowing Story would be by to check on us. Just loved every part of it! I even got my mother in law on board and now she’s a huge fan of home birth. Thank you Story!!!

My home birth experience was flawless, but I think it's the prenatal and postpartum care that makes me recommended Story and Christine even more. They were so wise and professional for my labor and making sure I and my baby were healthy after. The whole-self care they provided is something that I don't think you can get with another practitioner. From caring for me when I thought I was having a miscarriage to the emotional and spiritual support they provided through pregnancy and after gave me comfort and confidence.
Having them come check on us postpartum and staying as long as we needed to make sure we were doing well is something a mom just can't get from a hospital team.

Story has delivered two of my babies and we are happy to have booked her for our third birth. She brings such a calming presence during birth and she's very organized and professional during the entire prenatal process.

    Story is awesome.
I was against home birthing when my wife brought it up (she is a nurse practitioner). My wife kept showing me statistics about birthing in the US, and it is pretty embarrassing considering how advance our country is. I was still not convinced. We went to our first Dr.'s appointment and the doctor literally had my wife up in stirrups and doing an internal ultrasound before I could tell what was going on....in total we saw the Dr. for 5 minutes. It was then I realized what my wife was trying to tell me...this industry is so impersonal and just about the numbers and money...which ironically results in poor medical results compared to other less advanced countries.

We went to Story for a 30 minute appointment and the experience was totally different. We spent the entire time with Story, and Story answered every question and concern we had. I was convinced after the first appointment.

We did a home birth, and would never have it any other way from now on. I can't imagine having a child in a sterile, cold, and infectious hospital vs the warmth of our own home....so more natural.

    Thanks Story!

I can't believe that 1 star rating is still on here. I'm glad you were successful in getting rid of the review (a reviewer who gave a 1 star rating because they thought home birth was wrong, nothing to do with Story or her services). BTW....look up the metrics of home birth vs hospital births, you will be surprised.

I rarely give 5 stars- As I was traveling through the DC area some time ago I began the process of having a miscarriage. Despite having insurance, no doctors would see me right away. I had gone to an inner city ER a month before and had a horrific experience. I found myself feeling alone, frightened, and with out any medical care or support.

When I phoned Story, the midwife at Fairfax. She answered the phone herself. She held space for me and listened to my struggle. She kindly, professionally guided me through the steps of receiving care. She ordered a sonogram and within 30 minutes I was in a clinic getting the information and help I needed about what was happening with my pregnancy and begin the healing process.

I live quite some distance from Story- but she made a powerful impression on me in a my dire time of need. It is people like her who treat even strangers with kindness and care that make me want to be a better person. Story makes the world a better place. I highly recommend her for professional, helpful and kind care.
