My mother-in-law is aging in place and has been living on her own for the past few years since my FIL passed away. She has some health issues, but nothing so terrible that she needs to live in a senior home or anything.

Every other year or so though she does have an issue with a duct of some kind getting blocked causing her a ton of pain and jaundice. God love her, she's a little stubborn, and when this happens she doesn't go to the hospital or even the doctor. Ultimately, she has to get a stent put in to remove the blockage and then a few days or a week later, go back to have the stent removed.

Well, the last couple of times this happened she's allowed herself to be in excruciating pain for hours on end. But, this last time, we got a notification in Remote Home Check that she hadn't gotten out of bed around the time she normally does.

Since we live in another state, knowing this info. gave us the opportunity to call her that morning and get her to the hospital right away instead of waiting and potentially ending up worse. We're so pleased to be able to help her even though we're not close by. And it certainly gives us peace of mind to be able to see exactly how she's doing whenever we want, plus get immediate alerts if there's an emergency.
