FLY8MA Flight Training

I did the full "bush pilot" experience which involved staying on site, flying their variety of planes and getting out all over the area.

I would start by saying that Jon is a fantastic pilot - probably the best I have flown with. He was also able to teach a bunch of different things for a zero experience tailwheel pilot, ending in an endorsement.

The facility is an admirable creation of every pilot's dreams. Cabins, a bunch of planes and a private runway. It was a great variety for me. Went to a forestry service cabin, was able to stay in a more remote fishing town and got all over. I really appreciated flying the different planes to get a varied experience. Flying among the glaciers and landing in remote areas was very exhilarating (eventually doing it myself).

By the end of the 5 days, I felt a lot more confident in all aspects of back country flying. I may have been slightly better served by hammering the basics before getting out in the bush (doing your typical 10 touch and go lesson - every CFIs favorite) but everything was great.

Earned a tailwheel endorsement with Jon at his new Alaska Pilot Lodge. Stayed in the on-site cabin. Cabin has everything you need including minifridge stocked with Alaskan Beer. J3 cub I flew was awesome and well maintained. Look forward to coming back.

I absolutely enjoy the training that I have received...it truly is good quality training and the best part is that they offer the basic ground School for free! Who else is doing that? Maybe a couple of other guys are too, but Fly8MA has done a great job job at posting accurate and relevant content. There videos are top notch and very professional, family friendly language as well!! I don't have to worry about my four year old repeating some colorful phrase he just heard from the guy on the video. Thanks for your commitment to making aviation available to the other 80% of the population!

Fly8ma took me from Zero to Hero, I came in with absolutely no aviation knowledge and in a few weeks I finished Private Pilot ground school and started flying. The lessons are perfect. You go over each lesson topic, then watch entertaining but information packed videos that explain exactly what you just learned. Jon and the other CFIs are always there to answer all the questions I've had with quick responses. I'm excited to use Fly8ma for all my future ratings.

This is by far the best online ground school available. I tried sporty's and king schools which were all right but antiquated and bland. Once I started using these guys I felt like my time was being used way more efficiently and my learning experience advanced much quicker. Their training programs are well thought out, detailed yet concise, and all concepts related to aerodynamics, weather, FARs, etc were much easier to understand they way they are explained in this school. I now have my instrument and commercial license thanks to Fly8MA!!
