Danville National Cemetery (DNC) is only a few blocks from the redeveloping Tabaco Warehouse District of Danville and should be on any literary of the city. Filled with the remains of over 1300 Federal soldiers who died in the cities six Confederate prisons DNC is a moderately well maintained National Cemetery.
I can tell the story of one Union Soldier who is buried in a mass grave there at Danville, Charles A. Eustice was my gr gr grandfather. He was with the 1st NH Cavalry Company A. He was 40 years old with 6 kids. A farmer who signed up Feb 1864. He was wounded and captured at Kearneysville, VA Aug 25, 1864. He died of his wounds or conditions at the prison Oct 10, 1864. One of his daughters (my gr grandmother) just turned 10 two days after he died.
Only if those graves could talk and tell their story of the individuals who lay in rest
