Gen Korean BBQ House

We love Gen! Great all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ. Excellent food and great service. Almost everything was delicious. We especially loved the beef bulgogi and the spicy pork riblets. Ironically, the item we didn’t care for happened to be the house specialty, the Gen Premium Steak. It was very very tough; like chewing rubber. Also, come early. They get really busy!

Came here on NYE expecting a long line, but were pleasantly surprised when the host’s initial estimate of a 30 minute wait turned into about 30 seconds as our party of 3 was seated nearly right away. Service was prompt and efficient, we were regularly asked if we needed refills on any of the side dishes or more meat. We plowed through over a dozen orders of brisket, pork belly, short plate (beef belly), spicy chicken, popcorn chicken, and sweet and spicy rice cakes. I also added japchae (glass noodles) and a small order of soondobu (soft tofu soup).

The meat was all delicious. I’ve had better banchan (side dishes) at other KBBQ places, and the soondobu had a paltry few cubes of tofu and seemed to have a strong shrimp stock base to it. I would have liked a little less seafood flavor and more of the silky tofu in it. The salad greens were fresh and well seasoned, and both types of wrap (thinly sliced pickled radish and rice paper) were good.

Tables and seating were clean which is tough in this type of establishment where there are constant smoky greasy fumes from all the fatty meat grilling at every table. The one thing that detracted from our experience was that the floors felt like they were coated in a slick layer of grease which made it feel somewhat treacherous to navigate through the restaurant. Otherwise, overall a solid KBBQ place.

This place was awesome. Food was great and it was the first time I didn't have to wait for so long to get more meat. The service was so fast and the staff was so nice. I really recommend this place !

Excellent customer service and staff. Ordinary wait of around 15-20 minutes. Not that bad. Perfect date night spot. Ambiance and mood are cozy. Bring your conversation and an appetite. Took a star away for the slippery floor. Overall great experience.
