Canyon Park

Awesome place to hike , walk , picnic, mountain bike, and just enjoy treeeess

Nestled in the coastal hills of Costa Mesa, here’s a great place to go as an alternative nature spot!
Canyon Park was obviously formed from runoff during the rainy season’s, thus carving downhill paths. Then there may be a babbling brook to enjoy.
When dried out, the park can be accessed more so across and thru the paths, for a nice little natural recreation area.
The park entrance is off of Arbor St. in an upscale neighborhood. There’s a community playground area fronting the street here, where walk-in access is permitted. There’s also a small trailhead at the opposite end of the playground.
Parking may be found deeper in the park, further along the entrance road.
I had to find a tree, as public restrooms were nowhere to be found!
Trails are also accessed thru thru Canyon Drive at Sea Bluff Drive and the more open Talbert Regional Park.

From the entrance by the children’s playground, this looks like a typical city park with only 3 parking spaces, but continue past that initial area, driving or walking down the hill, & you’ll find a second, much larger parking lot, tables & hot coals containers, and many paths with full sun or dappled shade. The main path joins up with the Santa Ana River Trail, & a path branching off to the left goes to Sheephills bike jumping area in N. Talbert Park. Many lovely chances to meander through wilderness in the middle of a city. I highly recommend it!

This is a hidden gem with several walking trails and a large pond, among other things. It's close to neighborhoods and easy to get to, but once in the park it feels like you're out in the wilderness.
Lots of short, easy dirt walking trails and pretty nature views. These trails connect to a larger network of walking/hiking trails, which makes this a good starting point for longer walks.

Dogs are allowed in the park, and the park has a children's playground area and good parking.

This is my favorite park in Huntington Beach/Costa Mesa/Fountain Valley so far. Feels like you're secluded in the woods. It's beautiful and a nice hike as well.
