Mei's Kitchen

It was time I tried a place I drive past all the time, Mei's Kitchen. Starting with the Mushroom Egg Drop Soup that came with the bento boxes, we were glad we did. It was a hearty soup with great mushroom flavor. The ROC Shrimp Paste was crispy and tasty, served with cabbage slaw & spicy sauce. Both Pork Belly Bao were also good, but the Fried Shrimp & Avocado Bao with spicy mayo was by far my favorite.
The bento boxes are served in large Styrofoam containers, much larger than traditional bento boxes. The Pork Chop Bento Box had to weigh well over a pound and the chop was pounded thin and very large. It was served over rice & braised pork, with streamed veggies, a pork egg roll and a tea egg. Everything was cooked well and enjoyed, my only knock would be the fried pork chop did take on some flavor from some other food from the cooking oil. The General Tso Tofu Bento Box was also enjoyed and is recommended.
Still many unique dishes to try, like the Octopus Fritters, Pork Cabbage Dumplings & the Taro rice Noodle Soup, so I will be back soon.

Some of the best Taiwanese food I've had outside of Taiwan. Their beef noodle soup is hands down the best I've had in FL. Our other favorites were the braised pork over rice, pan fried bao (homemade and made to order!), and pan fried taro cakes. Prices were very reasonable. Service was friendly. I'm definitely coming back and bringing friends!

Nice dining environment and friendly staff. Food is delicious tastes like home. Highly recommend braised pork rice and the octopus ball! Oyster pancake delicious as well. Cozy delicious Taiwanese food and definitely will be back!

The Taro Rice Noodle Soup was delicious, the Salt and Pepper Chicken (could barely taste the salt/pepper need to add more seasoning or place some on the side for dipping), Octopus Fritters were on point, the Pork Belly over rice Bento overall tasty dish (pork belly over cooked for my taste, spring roll wrapper not cooked all the way through), Pork Scallion Bun tasty (expensive for what it is).

We will definitely be back to try some of the other dishes.

Charming restaurant with great food in the Suncrest Village Plaza at the corner of Dean and University. Due to the renovation of the nearby Publix, navigating the parking lot can be a bit of a challenge, but it's worth it for the food! Unfortunately, there's no menu on display, and no printed menus, as this place is still in "pandemic mode" in some respects (every other table is closed), so you will need a smart device (preferably a tablet - the phone format is a little squished) to flip through to make your choices unless you're already familiar with the options. Still, once we got past that hurdle, the food was great, and pretty fast service for how busy it was. The "octopus balls" (I'm used to calling them "takoyaki" at other places) make for an impressive and tasty starter. The bento deals offer generous portions and a variety of elements for a meal. The server was friendly (and patient with my fumbling through the menu), and overall this place was just a good find and I regret not checking this place out sooner!
