Johnny's Pastrami

Pricey and the customer service was terrible the lady slammed the window closed in our face when we were trying to ask her a question all the workers were disrespectful and their excuse was they had no manager there. They kept getting orders wrong. HOWEVER that the food was good, the burger could use more sauce and the patty more seasoning but the pastrami was great so next time I’ll just get a pastrami sandwich. The fries were great the sauce isn’t ranch I’m not sure what but it had an interesting taste to it.

I think it's the best pastrami I've ever had. Super tender and packed with a ton of flavor. A great mix of ambiance and quality of food to back it up. I
can't wait to come back.

Saturday at 4:00 late lunch was a nice intro to Johnny’s. We had the pastrami on a roll, pickles and mustard. Roll was underwhelming and squishy; pastrami overly salty. Au jus on the side tasted like gravy from a packet. Still a pretty good sandwich but $15 is overpriced.

Spicy Dog merguez sausage to brioche bun ratio quite disappointing.

Fries were a joke. Flaccid and lukewarm.

Star of the show was banana cream pie with a generous sprinkle of sliced toasted almonds on top.

After our outdoor patio lunch we sat in the pleasant and charming Johnny’s bar next door. Skipped a drink because we had a movie to catch so we made a note to return.

Have a cousin who was in town who grew up in LA and she suggested this spot! It was perfect for a heavy July 4th weekend meal. I’ve never been crazy about pastrami, so I opted for the chicken sandwich and the pastrami fries. Both were super appetizing! The chicken sandwich was cooked perfectly and so big I could barely fit it in my mouth… Definitely not beard friendly, but it hit the spot! Pastrami fries were fantastic! I think I enjoyed the pastrami more in this fashion then on the pastrami dip sandwich my cousin had. Regardless, I would definitely go back! We also grabbed a drink from the bar before our food came. We had the cantaloupe margarita. I can’t say that I was impressed with it or would get it again. But, the food!? Definitely!

I grew up going to this place with my family. After moving back to SoCal recently, I was so glad to see it was still here and thriving. I took a few friends here, because they had heard of it, but never been. They're all hooked, and its just as good as I remember it. The french dip pastrami is my gold standard for all other pastrami sandwiches, and no where else in the world have I had one as good as Johnny's. Will definitely be eating here at least once every time I'm back up to LA
