The Old Catskill Game Farm - Abandoned Zoo

Myself, along with 12 other friends, decided to rent out the Giraffe house for my join bachelor/bachelorette party over the Summer back in July. I can't recommend this place enough. It is one of the most unique places I have ever stayed. Despite the fact that it is "abandoned" the Giraffe house itself is extremely comfortable, updated, and cozy with all the amenities and then some (mini fridge was stocked with water, coffee available, bread, fruit, snacks, and more were all stocked ahead of our stay. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable as was the entire building. Beyond the actual inn, where we stayed, the entire property is utterly fascinating with all the old zoo structures still somewhat intact. Ask the facility manager - Sean/Shawn, for a tour and he will happily walk you through the entire property if you're up for the long trek along with a crew of goats that follow you the whole way. Sean was very accommodating and stayed on site but out of the way, in case any emergencies happened. Speaking of the goats, they are nearby for a visit and also chickens and other fun animals around.

I would recommend anyone to stay at this place, there's no telling how long it will last because it often changes hands and someone may renovate it, but if you're into a very unique stay and seeing a cool piece of history for not a bad price, grab a few friends and stay at this place ASAP!! You won't be disappointed.

So cool! We stayed at the airbnb for a weekend. The inn has 5 rooms and is open only to those who are renting it out. Felt fun to stay in the old giraffe house! We spent comfortable time inside cooking and playing board games....and also lots of time exploring some of the 200 acres with trails and abandoned cages and animal houses and ticket booths. Fall colors helped, but what gorgeous photo ops! Staff was nicely invisible but very responsive during our stay, especially for the one issue that arose. Hotbtub and outdoor games and fire pit were sweet thoughtful additions. Can't wait to come back.

Fascinating area: the entire park is dilapidated and overgrown, nearly apocalyptic, but the inn itself is cozy and luxurious (with a well equipped kitchen). Lots of opportunities for exploring the abandoned buildings and taking photos. Great for a 1-2 day trip, but bring sturdy shoes, bug spray, and even a face mask in case of dust in the buildings.

Beautiful new hotel, rooms are beautiful and comfortable, accomodations are top notch, resident staff are incredible and helpful, the ability to explore the grounds of the old zoo/game farm was everything I imagined, so interesting. Loved our stay! Highly recommend it, if the history and nostalgia intrigue you!

A great piece of history in New York. An old abandoned zoo turned into an Inn and Luxury Campground through Tentrr. The staff is very friendly and personable, and even though the main Inn is amazing, and the Campground is beautiful, (we stayed at the overlook site) they spend alot of their time working to improve every chance they get. The rest of the abandoned zoo is open for exploring which we did and it is fascinating.

Great place and staff is amazing. We'll be happy to come back.
