A beautiful experience every time we make it... It is well worth the trek to the top of the hill to stand by the cross and look out. The camp is super accommodating and staff is super friendly. A great memory.
This is a favorite family destination! Climb the road to the massive cross! Read the fascinating story of how school children collected pennies to help build the massive monument to Christ’s love. Breathtaking sunsets splash across the sky to illuminate several counties and states! There are trails for a serene walk through the forest. Plan a field trip for students of all ages, backgrounds, and beliefs! Christ’s love is for all!
Jumonville is a very special place. Over the years it's gone from Union soldiers hospital to orphanage to Sunday school training facility to summer church camp to now a major retreat center. Rare is the individual who can go to a camp or retreat at Jumonville and come back down the mountain unchanged.
The facility has a number of cabins for use. There is a chapel across the road, and a main lodge. Each building has its own name, and the main lodge's name is Washington. There is a dining hall, a dedicated meeting building, a library and museum. There is also a very nice building now called The Inn at Jumonville. We used to call it the Dean's Cabin, but it has been upgraded and renovated. There are more cabins at Epworth Heights, which is just above the main camp.
Of course, two of the main features are the Green Cathedral, and the giant Cross of Christ at the top of the mountain. Jumonville sits adjacent to a national park, and is part of the larger Fort Necessity battlefield, where the French and Indian war started in the 18th century.
There is also a swimming pool, tennis courts, basketball courts, a soccer field, a baseball or softball field, and a frisbee golf course. Newer to Jumonville is the ropes course, and indoor and outdoor climbing walls.
There is so much to do and see at jumonville, this review would become far too long if I were to describe it all. Let me just say that if you want a life changing experience, I recommend Jumonville in the strongest possible terms. If there were 6 stars, I would give that rating.
I've been walking around up here since I was about 5 years old. My grandparents helped run summer camp and I attended. Great memories and a great place to take kids to walk and be outdoors.
This place is a once in a life time memory. We are so blessed to have something so big and beautiful in so close to us. 💗⛪️🏕 it is a hike so please remember to bring water, snacks, flashlight and all that. Their toilets are cool little out houses but sometimes there’s no toilet paper. But that natural. Just be prepared if you decide you want to hike. But it was amazing!!!! I love it there and I’m going to make it a habit of going up there.
