New visitors center, restrooms, and honor system entrance fee. Well worth the trip.

One of my favorite places to explore and capture the shorebirds! Nature at it's finest and binoculars are encouraged. Very knowledgeable folks at the welcome center are always willing to give updates. Love the programs here.

I love this place. Relaxing drive through the refuge, beautiful views of AC and local shore wildlife. Several trails and an all weather boardwalk for you to appreciate nature.

Surprisingly diverse the, even for this south Jersey girl. Highlands, lowlands, marsh, beach, tidepools, mudflats, etc. You have a little bit of everything and a lot of amazing views. keep in mind you cannot walk down to the beach or into the tide pools as it's all protected but you can borrow binoculars or bring your own. Volunteers in the visitor center were warm and welcoming. You can drive the scenic trail, stop at one of the hiking paths (everyone I've taken is suitable for all ages) or guided walks are offered all year long, too.Love visiting it never gets old.

This is one of the best car birding sites in this area. You drive on a gravel road between a freshwater marsh on the left, and a saltwater marsh and bay on the right. Depending on the time of year, you'll see herons and egrets, shorebirds, ducks, geese, raptors, cormorants, terns, gulls, sparrows, and more. The entrance fee is very low and occasionally waived, and the visitor center has clean restrooms and people to answer questions. You'll want binoculars, and a scope if you have one. People frequently stop and get out to look, but there is room to pass, and you don't have to get out to see things, so someone who is mobility-impaired could still see a lot. There are also a few walking trails.
