Such a great place to visit, especially for wildlife research
Great cycling on both paved and unpaved roads. The section I rode had just a few cars and was mostly flat.
This is NOT the Visitor Center, and it is NOT open to the public. Lovely area though, and the researchers here do excellent work!
Family friendly. Exhibits were cleverly fogged on the outside so you had to go inside. There was something for everyone: telescopes, otter erotica, wolf violence, dancing with cranes, polar bear, snowball fight, coloring. The woman who worked there was very nice, as was the bathroom (soap smelled good! However, the hand dryer was weak.) Interactive exhibit-- skulls!! to touch. Made us feel like we were back in middle school science class.
The address is all wrong. The National Wildlife Visitor Center is located in the public portion of the Patuxent Research Refuge. The location shown here is closed to the public except on rare special occasions. The correct Address is 10901 Scarlet Tananger Ct., Laurel, MD 20708-4011. Use this address in your auto GPS to find the National Wildlife Visitor Center. Great place to visit if have the correct address.
