  This guy has a huge knowledge base and can teach any style of bass to any level student. I learned a lot about advanced harmony and some of the deeper jazz scales while improving my basic technical abilities under David. If you are into progressive or jazz you will be in heaven but again he teaches all styles well.

  David is a great teacher with lots of patience. I have taken lessons from several instructors over the years and I can say without a doubt that David is the best. Since I started lessons with David my understanding of harmony , melodies, soloing and rhythm has greatly improved as well as my ability to improvise. David is the kind of teacher who really takes a personal interest in your growth as a musicain and will push you to improve no matter what your current ability is. Some people are players and some are teachers ( there is a big difference ) David does both extremely well. I would recommend David to anyone who wants to work on improving there skills at any level.

  I've taken weekly lessons with David this past summer. My understanding in theory and my playing ability has improved noticeably over the course of 3 months. David is very encouraging and he's helped me out immensely with setting concrete goals in my study. Like the previous post, David had encouraged me to consider working towards pursuing my studies at Berkeley College of Music...not because i'm the most badass mutha' f'in bassist there is (im not), but because David genuinely wants his students to succeed in their musical ambitions. He takes the time evaluate your playing, and then tailors the lessons to address what's lacking. I advise those who are interested in taking lessons with David to take a look at his site, check out his videos, recordings, etc.... I plan on picking up my regular lessons with David this coming January.

  I have been working with David now for only about 4 months, and my bass playing has really risen to a new level. If you have a bass playing goal, David can help you meet it. He is patient, encouraging, and really takes care to individualize his teaching to cater to his students. I highly recommend.

  I studied with David for several years before he encouraged me to go to Berklee College of Music, where I was accepted with a scholarship thanks to David's teaching. I am now a professional bass player in NYC. He is an excellent teacher, amazing player, and very nice guy with a knowledge of harmony that goes very deep. Highly recommended!
