Rock Island Spur of Katy Trail State Park

What a great place to enjoy a ride, walk or run. We've ridden this Trail several times to connect all the way to St Louis.
Can't wait for more trails to be completed!

2018 11/24 - Nice trail, by looking at the aerial view beforehand I thought maybe we didn't have to go onto the highway, but I was wrong. I think it will have some highway path for quite some time because they route you around an active train track. It isn't a far distance on the highway, but a bit tricky with kids. You utilize the highway because the shoulder is narrow. HOWEVER, just past the highway path the best visuals of trail ((bridges (under 7 hwy) and old railroad lamp) are there, so if you start at the alternate trailhead - Purvis Road, I suggest you head towards 58 hwy to catch the view, it's short distance.

Fun ride. Very rural. The corner store in Chilahowe was limited but the staff was super nice and they had enough to make the return ride tolerable.

It is a very peaceful bike ride. I love the fact that there are signs and bathrooms to let you know how far the next town is and the bathrooms were clean and well maintained!
I will be returning when I can!

Great biking and hiking trail. Very smooth for crushed rock, almost like asphalt in some places. So nice to have this trail to get away from the traffic on a long bike ride. Not a lot of people out there, so it's peaceful too. The signs at the trailheads are neat. Water is available at Pleasant Hill city hall.
