Awesome tour. Very informative
The trains are amazing
, I'll bet they are just what Walt dreamed of.
Loved the tour. Learned a lot and enjoyed our tour guide. Thanks.
It's a great tour for fans of steam trains and Walt Disney as well, one of the nicest private railroad systems you'll find anywhere. It also provides a great backstory on Walt's passion for trains.
This was a fantastic tour of Disney's trains. We were met at the front gate by our tour guide. She handed each of us a small unit that hung around our necks that contained an earpiece so that everyone could hear her clearly. She gave us info on the station and the trains. We rode the train around the park and sho noted different points of behind the scenes info. We rode to Fantasy Land were the train reversed direction and took the siding to the roundhouse. We got to see where the trains and monorail are stored and maintained. We got a short history of the Magic Kindom steam trains. We got to climb into the cab of one of the engines and she showed us the basics of operating a steam locomotive. We rode back to Main Street Station. We took a short break for restrooms and water before the tour continued. We then got the long history on the locomotives. We went up into the station where we received a very thorough history of Disney and his love of trains. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone that has an interest in trains and even to those that want to know more about Disney. I'm terrible with names, but I think our Guides name was Dana. She was an excellent guide and knew her stuff. She showed pictures of Disney's small scale live steam train that he had running around his house. When I showed her photos I had of the 2" scale train we have in Phillipsburg, NJ, she seemed truly interested. Our tour was the 7:30 am tour on September 23, 2018. Excellent tour. Our guide/fireman at the roundhouse was Justin. He answered questions about the locomotives. He was very knowledgeable about the types of locomotives and their operation.
