  at the right time if day the sun catches every surface just right, and it's hard to imagine how much technology is alive right next door.

  A must if you enjoy seeing waterfowl. This was a beautiful and peaceful hike in the morning to see different types of waterfowl and birds in general. The hike is away from any town and is very peaceful. The city did a great job with this preserve!

  Lovely trail for easy run or some hill sections to make it challenging. Take your dogs for walk or go for a light evening stroll, lovely park with multiple small trail sections.

  Lots of open space surrounds the baylands trails. I didn't study the trails diagram, just walked out and back, and covered 4.5 miles. Be sure to carry water with you as there was only a fountain at the trail head. You could probably walk to SF on these trails, (or maybe to Foster City). To find a trail that loops you'll need to use the trail diagrams. Signage is minimal, but water fowl, bay views, and nature's beauty abounds!

  Definitely my favorite area to go hiking, biking, or exploring. Tons of beautiful views and a way to access nature. Great for family and pets, on certain trails. I recommend following the Bay Trail for the best experience.

Meet at the Palo Alto Baylands Nature Preserve trailhead near the bend in the road. The meeting point is in the lower right of the map, near toilets. Turn left at the "T" and continue past the duck pond on Harbor Road until you reach the parking lot near the Baylands Nature Center.
